Therapy is a vehicle for change and growth.
My name is Catherine McLean and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from Connecticut. Whether you are seeking services for yourself, adolescent, or child, I can offer a respectful, safe space for change. As a therapist, my aim is to provide collaboration and support in strengthening your self-awareness and developing new insights to improve your relationship with yourself and others.
My work focuses on supporting children, adolescents and adults living with trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, neurodivergence, mood dysregulation, life transitions, issues of childhood and adolescence, gender identity development, parent/caregiver concerns, grief and overall self-care. I actively strive to provide neurodiversity affirming, LGBTQ+ affirming, and diversity affirming care.
In addition to private practice, I have experience working with children, teens and adults in residential treatment facilities, outpatient clinical settings, and as a school counselor. I utilize an eclectic approach by drawing from various strengths-based and evidenced-based practices, such as EMDR, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Child Parent Psychotherapy and Circle of Security to empower those seeking support with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to achieve their individualized goals.
Clients and I work collaboratively, within a trusting relationship, to identify their strengths and gain skills to improve their quality of life. Together, we can explore what the therapeutic process might look like for you.
